Iran votes no to OOXML in ISO/JTC1
Advanced Information and Communication Technology Research Center of
Sharif University of Technology of Iran (_www.aictc.ir
<http://www.aictc.ir/>_) as the director of Iran national Free/Open
Source Project and member of ODF Alliance after some meetings with
Iran's standard institute (ISIRI) convinced ISIRI to vote no to OOXML in
the upcoming ISO/JTC1 voting in September 2. AICTC provided ISIRI a list
of the problems with OOXML which are at least lack of independence in
applications, not supporting the existing standards, incompatibility
with previously generated file formats and use of patented components.

ISIRI is going to announce its opposition to the proposition of OOXML as
an ISO standard in JTC1 committee where it is going to be put on vote
this September in ISO's headquarters.
