از ویژگی‌های عالیه گنو/لینوکس، من جمله اوبونتو، امکان جایگزینی تقریباً هر چیزی توی اونه! حالا اگه شما منوی پیش‌فرض applications (پنل بالا، سمت چپ) رو دوست نداشته باشین، GnoMenu، ابزاری برای این جایگزینیه:
Applications –> Ubuntu Software Center–> select ‘Edit’ menu –> Software Sources–> select ‘Other Software’ tab –> click Add
حالا عبارت زیر رو توی باکس باز شده بنویسید و Add Source رو بزنین:
ppa:gnomenu-team/ppa پنجره‌ها رو ببندید و به سافتورسنتر برگردین. عبارت GnoMenu را جستجو و نصب کنین.
حالا می تونین اون رو به یکی از پنل‌های دسکتاپ در جای دلخواهتون اضافه کنین. اکثر منوهای نرم‌افزاری جدید در سمت چپ و پایین دسکتاپ تعبیه میشن! برای این کار اول ابزاری رو که اونجا(پایین و سمت چپ دسکتاپ) قبلاً گذاشتین یا در حالت پیش‌فرض بوده را بردارین و بعد برای اضافه کردن GnoMenu به صفحه، روی پنل پایین کلیک راست کنین و با گزینه‌ی Add to panel، این ابزار را اضافه کرده و در محل دلخواهتون فیکسش کنین.

* برای اعمال تغییرات روی این ابزار هم Properties رو بعد از کلیک راست روی اون انتخاب کنین.

حالا می‌تونین منوی Applications رو از پنل بالا حذف کنین تا GnoMenu تنها منوی نر‌م‌افزارهای شما باشه!

Awoken Icons
System> Addministration> Software Sources> Other Software tab> Add
ریپوزیتوری ppa:alecive/antigone را در فیلد APT line تایپ(یا paste) کرده و Add Source و سپس close را بزنید و در پیغام ظاهر شده، Reload را کلیک کنید تا مخزن اضافه شود. وقتشه لیست پکیج‌ها رو با اجرای دستور sudo apt-get update داخل ترمینال به روز کنین. سپس Awoken را در سافتور جستجو کرده و نصب کنید.
یا می‌توانید به جای کارهای بالا خیلی راحت از داخل ترمینال با اجرای دستورات زیر مجموعه‌یآیکون‌های awoken را نصب کنین.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alecive/antigone
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install awoken-icon-theme
برای اعمال تنظیمات هم عبارت awoken-icon-theme-customization را در ترمینال بزنید.

Bisigi themes
System> Addministration> Software Sources> Other Software tab> Add
مخزن ppa:bisigi/ppa را معرفی کنید و Add Source را بزنید و... .
پس از افزودن مخزن، لیست پکیج‌ها را با اجرای دستور sudo apt-get update به روز کنید و حالا عبارت bisigi-themes را در سافتور سنتر جستجو و سپس مجموعه‌ی تم bisigi را که شامل 15 تم می‌شود را دانلود و نصب کنید یا اینکه هر یک از 15 تم را به دلخواه انتخاب و پس از جستجو در سافتور سنتر، موردی نصب کنید:

حالا برای انتخاب تم نصب شده‌ی مورد نظرتان روی دسکتاپ کلیک راست کنید و Change Desktop Background را انتخاب کنید(یااز زبانه‌ی Preference در منوی System، گزینه‌ی Appearance را برگزینید). حالا به سربرگ Theme رفته و تم دلخواهتون رو انتخاب کنین.
توضیح: مجموعه‌ی تم Bisigi قبلاً با نام zgegblog منتشر می‌شد. سایت فرانسوی زبان http://www.bisigi-project.org به مدیریت François Vogelweith مجموعه‌ای از تم‌های زیبای گنوم را فراهم می‌آورد که می‌تونین با مراجعه به این سایت screenshotهایی از تم‌های مجموعه‌ی Bisigi که از ساخته‌های وی هستند را مشاهده کنید.

This icon theme for Gnome provides monochromatic icons for panels, toolbars and buttons and colourful squared icons for devices, applications, folder, files and Gnome menu items. Four themes are included to fit with light or dark themes/panels.

INSTALLATION:
Download the tar.gz file and extract it. In the new folder created, run the ./INSTALL script to choose the distribution logo (Ubuntu, by default) and the Gnome menu icon. If run as root, the script will copy the iconsets to /usr/share/icons to made them available to all users. Some default icons used by Rhythmbox and Dockmanager may be also replaced.
Run ./UNINSTALL as root to restore defaults icons.
Faenza icon theme is available to install for Ubuntu users via a PPA repository. View the README file for instructions and a list of known issues.

Faience is a Work In Progress that include a Gnome-Shell theme and an icon theme based on Faenza. Hydroxygen Icon Set
This is the best I could have ever made.
A full iconset for gnome desktops [windows or mac users won't be able to install it].
I also included a script which lets you modify the colours and the aspect of many icons, like folders ones, apps, buttons, etc.
This is not a complete artwork made from me.
It's a little artwork made by me, and the rest is a collectwork.

To install: extract the "Infinity on high V2" folder in your /home/.icons directory. If already exists, remove the precedent version
