Ubuntu developers have stated in the official mailing list of the distribution that Linux Mint is a vulnerable system and people shouldn't do online banking on it.
A third-party developer had asked for help to build an Ubuntu MATE Remix (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Ubuntu-MATE-Remix-14-04-Trusty-Tahr-Might-Arrive-in-2014-401006.shtml) based on Ubuntu 14.04, and people wondered what the point was when Linux Mint already featured such a desktop environment.
One of the Ubuntu developers, Oliver Grawert, pointed out that Linux Mint maintainers have a series of packages that they will never upgrade (https://github.com/linuxmint/mintupdate/blob/master/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintUpdate/rules), making the system vulnerable to attacks.
“This is the list of packages it will never update, instead of just integrating changes properly with the packages in the ubuntu archive they instead suppress doing (security) updates at all for them.”
“I would say forcefully keeping a vulnerable kernel browser or xorg in place instead of allowing the provided security updates to be installer makes it a vulnerable system, yes. I personally wouldn't do online banking with it ;)” said (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-discuss/2013-November/014770.html) Oliver Grawert.
His opinion was also shared by other Ubuntu developers who were participating in the discussion.

خبر جالبی بود ولی:
وقتی خبر جالب انگلیسی می بینی دو حالت داره، اگه حوصله داری برای ملتت ترجمه می کنی اگرم حوصله نداری بهتره اصلا نزاریش چون هر کسی می تونه یه نوشته رو کپی پیست کنه.

بحث کپی پیست کردن نیست دوست عزیز گذاشتن خبر بهتر از اینه که اصلا گذاشته نشه! اینکه شما میگی نباید اصلا خبر رو میزاشتی این برداشت شخصی شماست.

خب کاری نداره که خودمون بالاخره این خبر ر ُ میدیدیم که

گسترش دهندگان Mint هم پاسخ دادند ولی نه به طور واضح :
” We explained why the Ubuntu update policy was not good enough for us and we consequently developed the update manager to solve that particular problem.
Firefox doesn’t come to you later in Mint than it does in Ubuntu (it’s a level 2 update).
Yes, by default you get updates in Ubuntu for kernels and Xorg and not in Mint. Yes, there’s a very good reason for that.”
"ما توضیح داده ایم چرا سیاست بروز رسانی اوبونتو به اندازه کافی برای ما خوب نیست و ما در نتیجه [این عمل] مدیر بروز رسانی را برای حل مشکلات خاص گسترش داده ایم.
فایرفاکس به دست شما در مینت دیر نمی رسد اما در اوبونتو این گونه است (این یک بروز رسانی در سطح 2 است ).
بله، به صورت پیش فرض ما بروز رسانی کرنل و Xorg را در اوبونتو دریافت می کنید اما در مینت نه. بله، که برای این کار دلیل خوبی وجود دارد."
البته دیگه نگفتن دلیل خوبشون چیه ! ولی فکر می کنم به خاطر پایداری باشه .
