Ocelot (Wikipedia)= The ocelot, pronounced /ˈɒsəˌlɒt/, also known as the dwarf leopard is a wild cat distributed over South and Central America and Mexico
Oneiric = “Oneiric” is defined as “Of or relating to dreams or dreaming”, though Shuttleworth says it means “dreamy” and suggests that 11.10 is both daydreaming and disciplined

1. گنوم 3
بزرگ‌ترین هجمه‌: ورود GNOME 3.0 به عنوان stack در بدنه‌ اوبونتو و این یعنی یونیتی همچنان یک سوارکار باقی خواهد ماند، در حالی که با اسب پیر(GNOME 2.x) وداع می‌کند. از این رو لازمه که بسیاری از تم‌های پیش‌فرض اوبونتو به گنوم 3 پورت(port) بشن و این همه یعنی در دیسک نصاب اوبونتو دیگر خبری از گنوم کلاسیک(گنوم2) نخواهد بود.

Unity 2D will become the fall back desktop. This is not news since it was decided so, much earlier. But there was another major decision. Unity 2D will run on Compiz instead of Metacity! Qt based Unity 2D for lower-end PCs will change from Metacity to Compiz. And it is expected that GNOME 3 will be included, that would be very useful because we could install GNOME Shell without breaking Unity

2. LightDM جایگزین GDM به عنوان Display Manager اوبونتو می‌شود.
لایت‌دی‌ام یک مدیر صفحه‌ نمایش سبک و روونه که کاربران اوبونتو در اولین برخوردشان با Ocelot، با آن آشنا خواهند شد. از زمانی که کانونیکال انتشار نسخه‌ های اوبونتو را آغاز کرد این (احتمالاً!) نخست-باری است که برای GDM جایگزینی انتخاب می‌کنن. LightDM قراره که جایگزینی منعطف‌تر و themableتر برای جی‌ دی‌ ام خداحافظی کرده باشه. لایت‌ دی‌ اِم علاوه بر آوردن theme-ability برای login screen، قراره که startup رو هم یک کوچولو سریعتر کنه.

3. تاندربرد بازی را برد.
Mozilla Thunderbird از نسخه‌ی 11.10  به عنوان  email client پیش‌فرض، جایگزین Evolution کهنه‌کار میشه.

 4. پلاگین جدید در کامپیز

There is a new Compiz plugin called Modal Dialog which has the ability to dim the parent window inorder to highlight the dialog window

5. بهبود کارکرد لانچر یونیتی - Enhanced Unity launcher integration

Better App Integration With Unity Launcher;
Further simplification of the UI - Completely remove the left navigation pane, expander is tiny and often unnoticed, should expand by default especially Get Software and so on. the new scroll functionality that was introduced during Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal release has become a lot more polished now and it has even started to work well with GNOME-Terminal

6. مرکز نرم‌ افزار اوبونتو با ظاهر جدید - کلیک کنید

More Improved Ubuntu Software Center is upcoming. Improved offline behavior, currently USC prohibit any install/remove actions to take place when no network connection is available. Better approach would be to add actions to a queue and offer to action when an internet connection is established

7. رفت و آمدهای جدید!

PiTiVi & Computer Janitor (OUT), Déjà Dup (IN)
Computer Janitor and PiTiVi Video Editor will not find its place in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. They are set to be removed from Ubuntu 11.10. PiTiVi because of low ratings and a lack of polish, and Computer Janitor for the damage that an unskilled user can do with it.
At the same time, there is an useful inclusion too. Déjà Dup is a simple desktop backup tool which most probably will find its way into Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot

نسخه بتا ۱ هم اومده و تغییرات خوبی داشته

هرچند که من از این نسخه استفاده نخواهم کرد (علاقه وافر من به پایداری و خدمات بلند مدت مانع از استفاده از این نسخه ها که LTS نیستن میشه) اما امیدوارم پایداری بهتر و کارایی بیشتری نسبت به ۱۱.۰۴ داشته باشه (و قطعا هم چنین خواهد بود).

Rewritten Gwibber - v3.1.6, The new gwibber landed in Oneiric bringing improved performance and a new interface using the most recent GNOME technologies.

Ubuntu Core is a new minimal rootfs for use in the creation of custom images. در اوبونتو 11.10 چه می‌گذرد:
سافتورسنتر به GTK3 پورت شده و شکل و شمایل جدیدی هم بخودش گرفته با آیکن جدید و رابط خوشگل‌تر! (عکس)

The Ubuntu Software Center adds new “top rated” views to the main category page and all subcategory pages, it allows you to edit or delete your own reviews, and has had a significant speedup for standalone deb file installation.

دسترسی‌‌های موجود در منوی Power عبارتند از: System Settings, Displays, Startup Applications, Software up to date, Printers, Webcam and Attached Devices

اوبونتو 11.10 با یونیتی خواهد بود(عجب نکته‌ای!!) و نیز یونیتی 2D به عنوان fallback برای کاربرهایی که سخت افزار سیستمشون قادر به اجرای نسخه‌ی 3D نیست. همچنین میشه GNOME Shell رو از طریق سافتورسنتر نصب کرد.

LightDM now uses the new Unity greeter by default

برنامه‌ی نصاب مثل قبل ساده و سر راسته فقط اینکه به فرآیند نصب یک مرحله‌ جدید به اسم user photo اضافه شده که به شما امکان می‌ده عکسی از روی هارد یا با webcam به عنوان تصویر کاربری انتخاب کنین.

The most controversial change present in the Beta is the hiding of window controls on maximized window by default. When an application window is maximized the window controls, to much controversy, hide by default. A quick mouse over reveals them. This is a tidy and logical change – you only need the buttons when your mouse is in their vicinity anyway

منم همین فکرو می کردم ولی وقتی امکانات جدید ورژنای غیر lts رو می بینم نمی تونم جلو خودمو بگیرمو سریع نصبش می کنم

I went a little crazy and created a lot of different wallpapers for the up-and-coming release of Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneric Ocelot". I am really excited for it and can't wait for it to be released in October. The "This. Changes. Everything." is because it will be the first release of Ubuntu that has GNOME 3 and that only uses the Unity plugin
